Kugler takes visits
Orchard Park, N.Y. tight end prospect Robert Kugler is approaching double digit offers as he picked up three new offers last week from Purdue, West Virginia, and the University of Buffalo. Also last weekend he took a visit to Syracuse for the Orange junior day.
"I was down there for the junior day and the [Villanova] game that was crazy," Kugler said. "I thought it was pretty awesome. I know they have been down the last couple of years, but when I went to campus and met with the coaches I was really impressed. I really like the coaches down there, Coach Casullo the tight ends coach for Syracuse is also my recruiting coach as well and I really like him. Coach Marrone is awesome and I think he is going to get that place turned around fast."
Kugler, 6-foot-3, 215 pounds arrived at the Syracuse campus a bit early and because of that he was able to spend some extra one-on-one time with Coach Marrone.
"When we first got there we had a chance to speak with Coach Marrone for awhile and talk about what Syracuse had to offer. That was pretty awesome, the whole visit was impressive. I know Nathaniel Hackett he is a family friend of ours and we talked with him and that was pretty awesome. The game itself was pretty great."
On the visit the Empire State product got a glimpse of what the Carrier Dome can sound like with nearly 35,000 fans.
"During the game it got loud, so I can imagine what it sounds like when it's full. I played there for the state championship when I was a sophomore and we only had a few thousand and it got pretty loud. I can imagine it would get loud with all 50,000 fans packed in."
When all was said and done Kugler enjoyed his trip to Syracuse and the Orange made a nice impression on him.
"For football I really think Coach Marrone has it going in the right direction and personally I like the campus a lot with all of the old style buildings. I really thought the campus was interesting, plus it has good academics to."
The visit to Syracuse was not his only trip that weekend as he hit the air to fly down to Purdue on Sunday.
"After the Syracuse visit I actually flew out to Purdue. When I was there I got to see them play Michigan St. game and that was pretty cool as well," Kugler stated "I actually went to Pittsburgh and we are going to make a few more visits this spring."
His visits for the spring have not been finalized, but he has a couple schools in mind that he would like to see.
"I want to go out to Boise St. for their summer camp and probably Colorado St. because they were the first to offer me."
With offers still coming in Kugler has talked with his father about a time frame of when he should make a decision.
"I have actually talked about that with my dad and I want to commit before my senior year. I want to commit before my senior season because I am moving to Pittsburgh and I do not want to have to deal with too much stuff during the year. If I do not make a decision I will be open to taking my official visits, but I think I really want to pick a school before my senior year."
When Kugler transfers he will be attending North Allegheny High School.
