Down to only two games remaining in the season and Mississippi State still needs one more win to become bowl eligible.
The Bulldogs will suit up for their final road game this afternoon taking on No. 6 Arkansas at War Memorial Stadium at 2:30 p.m.
MSU has never won in Little Rock posting a 5-0-1 record there while the Razorbacks have enjoyed nine straight victories there overall and are 165-65-4 all-time there. Arkansas also has the edge in the series notching a 14-6-1 advantage including 11 of the last 12 meetings.
It took two overtimes to decide the winner last season in Starkville as the Hogs held on for a 38-31 victory. Vick Ballard fumbled through the end zone on first-and-goal for State in the first overtime period which would have been the game-winner. He did however finish with 150 yards rushing and three touchdowns while Ryan Mallett of the Razorbacks threw for 305 yards, three touchdowns and an interception and Knile Davis added 187 yards on the ground and three scores.
The Bulldogs are 5-5 on the year and 1-5 against Southeastern Conference foes. They are however winless against ranked opponents this season and for the past two years all of their losses have come against teams ranked in the Top 25. State's five losses this season have come against teams ranked 1, 3, 12, 14 and 24 in the latest polls.
Last week the Bulldogs suffered a 24-7 setback at home to No. 3 Alabama
