Joraskie talks Syracuse
Mount Carmel (PA) Mount Carmel Area defensive end Eric Joraskie recently picked up his first scholarship offer from Syracuse. CuseConfidential.com caught up with him to get his thoughts on the Orange offer.
"It was really exciting to get my first division one scholarship offer. Hopefully I can get up there soon and check it out and see what they have to offer. It is very very exciting."
Joraskie, 6-foot-4, 260 pounds does not know much about the Orange, but what he does know right now sticks out.
"I know they have a good academic program at Syracuse. Football wise I know they have a very rich tradition and some of the best NFL running backs to play the game went to Syracuse like Jim Brown and Larry Csonka. From a historical standpoint that's awesome and they are up and coming now."
During the past couple of months the Orange have made some coaching moves and one of their new coaches is in charge of recruiting the Keystone State product.
"Coach Donnie Henderson is actually the guy that I have been in contact with so far. I have only had a chance to speak with him a couple times because they can't talk again till next week I think."
A visit has not been schedule yet, but Joraskie and Henderson have talked about it.
"When we did talk he told me that they would be offering me and we talked about different stuff and hopefully I could get up there soon. Next time I talk with him I want to talk more about a visit and work something out."
In his conversations with Henderson the prospect does not exactly know yet where Syracuse wants him to play, however he does have an idea.
"They have not really been specific I know it is defensive line. I assume it is defensive end, but I am not the coach so I can't make assumptions. Defensive end is where I lay right now."
Besides Syracuse a few other programs are showing interest right now.
"I have had contact with Penn State, Stanford, Bowling Green, Rutgers, and some IVY League schools," Joraskie said. "I am going to go to Rutgers spring game and I already went to some 1-AA schools. During this season this year I was able to go to a Penn State game."
There is no time frame for a decision right now.
During his junior year he had a solid season totaling 72 tackles and 9.5 sacks. H also added that he had a lot of quarterback hurries as well.
