Rucker enjoys return trip
This past weekend marked the first trip back to Iowa City for Malik Rucker since he committed last month. For the 6-foot-0, 175-pound Rucker, it gave him not only a chance to get more comfortable with his surroundings, but also meet several of his future teammates. Rucker tells us about the visit and much more.
Q: Can you kind of take us through what all you got to do today at Iowa's barbecue?
RUCKER: We got there and did the whole campus tour, facility tour, and player panel. It was just kind of like a junior day and then we barbecued at the end with the coaches. It was basically just the commits and a couple of 2014 guys there.
Q: Did you know some of the other commits going in?
RUCKER: A little bit. I've been talking to a few of them on Facebook and Twitter, so today I got to like match a name with a face. Guys like John Kenny, David Kenney, Derrick Willies, Delano Hill, and Andre Harris.
Q: What did you take away from this visit that maybe you hadn't on previous trips to Iowa?
RUCKER: It was a lot different just because I was there with a lot of other recruits and guys I committed with. It was great to get around those guys and get to know them better.
As a junior, the 6-foot-0, 175-pound Rucker finished with 83 tackles and two interceptions at Robbinsdale Cooper High School. In June, the three-star prospect committed to Iowa over scholarship offers from Arizona State, Boston College, Duke, Illinois, Iowa State, Minnesota, NC State, SMU, Northern Illinois, Ohio, and Wyoming, among others.
