North Carolina got its floor general of the future when Apopka (Fla.) Lake Highland junior point guard Joel Berry committed to the Tar Heels Monday, Jan. 21.

Tar Heel Illustrated's Clint Jacksonon the significance of Berry's commitment for UNC: "What a huge addition for the Tar Heels. Fans have been complaining about a lack of five star, true impact talent and here he is."

"Joel Berry is the guy you have been waiting for. He's a big-time elite point guard who can just go out and make plays for you right away."

"He's such a strong, quick and pure scorer from the one spot. He's going to come in with that strong, compact body and he scores on all levels -- from the arc, the mid range and at the rim. He's an elite guy with quick twitch muscle fiber and that edge to him."

"This is such a big commitment for UNC basketball and to kick off the class of 2014. UNC did what they wanted to with Berry and that was get him to visit early, impress the heck out of him and get the close before the momentum wore off."
