UA among favorites for fast rising big man
Central High School star Justin Knox wasn't a household name heading into the AAU season but after four months on the road with the Birmingham Raptors college coaches are beginning to take notice. This past weekend the Tuscaloosa native was in Atlanta for a tournament where he gave his critique on his play and a college school list.
"I thought I played well. It was good competition and a nice challenge but I did some good things especially in the paint. I'm getting a little more comfortable out there. I wasn't very confident early but I am now," Knox said. "LSU head coach (John) Brady called me after the adidas tournament and offered me a scholarship. I like them along with Alabama who has also offered and Tennessee, Florida, Ole Miss and Mississippi State. The other four haven't offered yet but I'm hearing a lot from them.
"I'm going to take some visits this year before I make a decision. All six schools are pretty much even. I'm looking for a school that has good academics most of all but also I want the basketball team to be competitive. I also need to feel comfortable with the other players and coaches."
