Memphis in on Vandy commit
Prattville (Ala.) quarterback Larry Smith has been verbally committed to Vanderbilt since August, but the three-star prospect took an official visit to Memphis this past weekend and the Tigers now are firmly in mix.
"The visit to Memphis went very well," Smith said. "I loved the coaching staff and loved the campus and the city. My family went with me and they loved the visit, too."
The 6-foot-2, 194-pounder noted the new facilities at Memphis.
"The facilities are all pretty new," he said. "They only are a few years old."
Smith met with Tigers head coach Tommy West during the visit.
"We talked about the quarterback situation, why Memphis wants me and we both liked the fact that I played in a spread offense (at Prattville), so that's a positive," Smith said.
