Florida State's opponent this weekend has posted some pretty eye-popping numbers this season. The most amazing may be Florida's ability to score quickly and get opponents in a deep hole before they even get warmed-up - through the first 11 games the Gators have outscored their opponents 146-7 in the first quarter.
Florida's ability to get out of the gates quickly has made a huge impact in some its bigger games. Against Tennessee, the Gators took a 17-0 lead just a little over 10 minutes into the game and the Volunteers could never catch up. The story was the same in the LSU game with UF scoring on its first three drives and jumping out to another 17-0 first quarter lead. Steve Spurrier's South Carolina team fell behind 21-0 in the first quarter and from that point forward the game was all but over.
