Appling shows his PG skills at Storm Classic
GRAND RAPIDS TOWNSHIP - With a record-breaking 49-point performance in the Class A state title game last month, Detroit Pershing guard and Michigan State commit Keith Appling has more then proven he is one of the most explosive scorers in the rising senior class.
Playing with the loaded Michigan Mustangs 17-and-under team at the Grand Rapids Storm Classic this weekend, Appling is showing that he can make sure his teammates get theirs too.
Appling's teammates definitely got their as the Mustangs dominated their pool at the tournament. The Mustangs then wrapped up play Saturday evening by defeating the Hudsonville Hornets 80-49 in the first round of elimination games.
"Everything is going good and we're winning," Appling said. "I'm trying to get my teammates involved and its going good."
The Mustangs played their first game on Friday night. They opened pool play with a 61-46 win over the Central All-Stars. Appling and his teammates continued to cruise through pool play on Saturday with a 71-33 win over AMPD Athletics and an 81-33 win over ACB Black, which finished second in the pool with a 2-1 record.
