Notebook: Defense solid in big win

AuburnSports.com Auburn's offense wasn't much help for the defense Saturday night. Ball State scored 17 points off of Tiger miscues, but still didn't put up much a threat as Auburn improved to 4-0 on the season with a 54-30 win at home.
The Tigers' defense held Ball State to 260 yards of total offense, but two interceptions and a failed fake punt led to a pair of touchdowns and a field goal for the Cardinals. Thirteen of Ball State's 30 points came in the fourth quarter against mostly Auburn's second and third-teamers.
Otherwise, the defense played solid, defensive coordinator Ted Roof said.
