November 2, 2009 North Carolina has a lot of football left to play, but the Tar Heels may well have drawn the blue print for how one saves a football season. North Carolina's stunning win over Virginia Tech on Thursday not only broke a five-game losing streak to the Hokies, it also breathed new life into the Tar Heels' season. UNC now is just two wins from becoming bowl eligible, which seemed like an unattainable goal a week after the Tar Heels blew an 18-point lead to Florida State. Tar Heels safety Deunta Williams said he can't remember having such a fun bus ride home - and for good reason. UNC's 20-17 upset of then-No. 14 Virginia Tech on Thursday put Carolina back in the bowl hunt. Coming Saturday, we'll get a Blue Devils-Tar Heels clash that warrants outside attention, without the worry that "The Worldwide Leader in Sports" will inflict round-the-clock Dick Vitale coverage from Tobacco Road.
