Hofstra University has loaded up this Fall with some fine backcourt talent. Today, the Hofstra basketball program signed 6-2 combo guard Carlos Rivera of Bridgton Academy in Maine. Rivera had been looked at a little bit by the Miami Hurricanes this Fall. But Hofstra stayed with Rivera and received a letter of intent today.

In addition, as reported earlier on RivalsHoops.com, Hofstra also landed Loren Stokes, a 6-2 shooting/combo guard from the St. Thomas More School in Oakdale, Connecticut.

Stokes took fall trips to St. Bonaventure (Oct. 4-6) and Hofstra (Oct. 12-14) before casting his lot with the Pride. He had contemplated a visit to Rhode Island this fall, but never visited that Atlantic 10 program.

In Stokes, Hofstra scoops up an aggressive guard who attacks the rim with reckless abandon. While his outside shot is still a work in progress, Stokes plays exceptionally hard on both ends of the floor and has a chance to be an impact player down the road in the Colonial Athletic Association.

Stokes enjoyed a terrific adidas Big Time Tournament in Las Vegas playing with the Donyell Marshall Foundation this past July.

Last year he attended Turner Carroll H.S. in Buffalo, N.Y. He is a senior at St. Thomas More, working on achieving a qualifying test score.
