November 16, 2012After months of intense speculation and pondering as to where he'll play his college hoops, Charlotte (N.C.) West Charlotte big man Kennedy Meeks is ready to make his much-anticipated decision between college heavyweights North Carolina and Georgetown.
As of Friday morning UNC still hadn't officially released its Class of 2013 signees yet, raising the notion that the Tar Heels are waiting on the 6-9, 285-pound Meeks' decision before making such an official announcement.
Meeks, the No. 5 center prospect and No. 54 overall player nationally in the Rivals 150 in the current senior class, has been legitimately torn between the Tar Heels and Hoyas, but it appears he's finally prepared to make his final decision public Friday evening on ESPNU's Signing Day Special between 7:00 and 8:00 pm from Charlotte.
"It's kind of Georgetown and Carolina. It's kind of Georgetown and Carolina," said Meeks in a recent interview with THI.
Meeks visited UNC (October 19) and Georgetown (October 26) for official visits earlier this fall.
"I think he's truly torn, and I think he's torn between Georgetown and Carolina," said Clint Jackson earlier this fall. "He doesn't seem to have any reservations about Carolina, but he also doesn't seem to have any reservations about the Hoyas."
Tar Heel Illustrated is closely following any and all developments with Meeks, and following his decision, we'll have much more on what could be UNC's newest big man addition.
