January 4, 2013In a Friday afternoon press conference in Chapel Hill leading up to Sunday night's game at Virginia, UNC head coach Roy Williams indicated that he's 'cautiously optimistic' that junior wing Reggie Bullock will play against the Cavaliers.
Bullock suffered a mild concussion last week after colliding with a teammate in practice, and he missed Carolina's victory December 29 in the Smith Center over then-No. 20 UNLV.
Williams added that Bullock worked through half of UNC's Friday morning practice session, and barring any setbacks, he will likely return to the UNC starting lineup for Sunday evening's 8:00 pm tipoff in Charlottesville.
"If he can practice, doesn't have the headaches, doesn't throw up any red flags (between now and then), I'll start him on Sunday," Williams said of Bullock. "Because he didn't lose the position by somebody beating him out. He just banged heads with the wrong guy."
"He's looked good (in practice)," added senior Dexter Strickland. "His shots looked good, and I'm sure he's ready to play."
Virginia head coach Tony Bennett is heading into Sunday evening's game in John Paul Jones Arena fully expecting Bullock to play, as he expressed during his Thursday afternoon teleconference.
"I'm sure he'll play in our game," Bennett said of Bullock. "He was out with a concussion (for the UNLV game), Bullock was."
