I cannot believe that the 'Heels gave this one up. I just watched it and I still can't believe it. Kid has hit 2 HR's all year long and hits the walk off to send us to the loser's bracket.
It isn't impossible to advance, but the 'Heels just made it a WHOLE lot more difficult. Gotta suck it up and win 3 more games now or the season is done.
I can't believe this. I am in complete shock right now.

Belt high fastball with the game on the line is unacceptable. Kid didn't look quite right yesterday and didn't throw a first pitch strike to a single batter tonight. I wonder if the "best closer in the land" has something going on in his head.
OK, so it is what it is. Truthfully, with our pitching staff, we CAN still win it all tomorrow and I would put us up against anyone with our backs to the wall. Still, it won't be easy and the Pirates are looking to save their lives as well, so they will throw everything they have at us.
I will go out on a limb and say that IF we get past ECU and win the first game against St. John's, we will have the momentum to win the regional. If we get to a second game against St. John's I really like our chances. But, you can bet that IF we get by ECU, St. John's will throw everything at us in that first game, so we had better step it up.
Maybe this will motivate the bats and pitching to come alive. I certainly hope so. They will play for their post-season lives tomorrow, so if that won't motivate them, nothing will.

I still like this pitching staff the next two games! Great starters lined up. Will have to pound the strike zone the next two so that the starters can work deep but IF unc were able To get back to the championship it'd be a hodge podge as to who would throw

Well, we need to get TO that game first. Then we'll see what this team is made of. If they can get to that game, I think we have the pitchers to win it. It will just depend on who they throw out there.
I think Mike Fox needs to also keep them on a tight leash. If someone isn't looking particularly sharp, he needs to pull the plug on them and not let them dig too deep of a hole.
Like I said, it isn't impossible, but it IS hard to do. Still, I read somewhere that there is someone who does it every year and I think I read or heard where 75% of those who go to the last day undefeated move on, so that is a 1 in 4 chance we can move on. I have seen stranger things happen with worse odds, so who knows?
First things first, though. We need to go pound ECU and get to St. John's before we worry about the final game. I think if we can come out and get some runs early and build a good lead, that will take some pressure off and let the pitchers calm down and just pitch. If it is a tight game, then it might be tough.

Agree that we need to pound ECU and, hopefully, rest most of the pitching staff during that game. Fox could over-manage though and get us in trouble even with a win. What am I saying? We all know he will over-manage.
