BC in early mix for 2012 DE
One of the fastest rising juniors in the Mid-Atlantic region is defensive end Allen Jackson of Owings Mills (MD) McDonogh, who spoke with EagleAction.com recently about his early recruitment, his junior season, and his thoughts about the BC program and school.
Jackson, 6-foot-4 and 225-pounds, has played three games thus far and has totaled 26 tackles, 2 sacks, 3 blocked punts, and 2 touchdowns, while lining up at defensive end and slot receiver.
"The season has been real good," said Jackson. "I've played well. I've been getting into the backfield, making plays, as well as making plays on special teams."
Aside from his personal success, Jackson is also happy with the teams 3-0 start.
"The team looking promising," he said. "People didn't expect us to be as good as we are. But we work hard in practice and we see the results on the field. This week will be a good test against a very good team from Virginia, Woodberry Forrest."
Just as his junior season has started off with a bang, so has his recruitment, which already including an early offer from Maryland.
"I've been receiving letters from a couple of schools," said Jackson. "It's exciting to see schools being interested."
Aside from his offer from Maryland, Jackson also mentioned that he has been receiving steady interest from Oregon, Stanford, Mississippi State, Penn State, Illinois, and also Boston College. So what are his early thoughts regarding BC?
"Since they're in the ACC, I've watched them play on TV," said Jackson. "BC is a great school and I look forward to hopefully hearing more from them."
Finally, he was asked if there were a few specific things he will be looking for in a school once it comes time to make a final decision.
"Distance from home, style of play, if I like the coach, and how long he will be there," said Jackson.
