Thomas still on board

As the Buckeyes most recent commitment, many were curious about the status of Cleveland (Ohio) St. Ignatius tight end Blake Thomas. Thomas has only been committed to Ohio State for a little more than two weeks but the news of Jim Tressel's resignation hasn't caused him to re-think his commitment.

"When I heard about it I wasn't shocked but I was definitely surprised," said Thomas. "It's been in the media so much that we've kind of been prepared for it for a little while now."

While Thomas clearly would have liked to play for Tressel, he feels that many of the reasons he committed to Ohio State are still there and that he can still accomplish the goals that he has set for himself.

"Obviously I wish he was still the head coach of the program but in the end, he did what he felt was best for the players and that's all you can ask for really," Thomas said. "I'm still 100-percent committed, I have faith in the athletic staff. I have faith in the people there and we're definitely going to have a good team. I'm looking forward to my four years there and I know I'm getting a good education and getting my education paid for. It's not an ideal situation but you can't go into it in a negative way."

While most of the verbal commitments are holding strong, the key will be convincing many of the undecided targets that Ohio State is still a viable option. Thomas and his classmates will be working hard to make sure that message is sent.

"All of us future Buckeyes are definitely going to be trying to help get the kids that are still thinking about Ohio State," he said. "I'm definitely going to be talking to people and I've already texted a few guys today and some of the other commits, we're all playing for the same team."
