Strizak makes the call

Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco is home to an enormous amount of rising senior talent and one of the best prospects on the roster is Mike Strizak, a three-star linebacker. The 6-foot-2, 228-pound linebacker has amassed an impressive offer list and on Monday morning he made his college choice.

Ultimately Strizak's decision came down to Rutgers and Boston College, with UConn running in third.

"I committed to BC this morning," Strizak told EagleAction.com. "I called Coach McGovern and Coach Spaz and let them know. They were really excited."

Strizak has attended camps at Boston College every summer for the past several years so he's very familiar with the school. Most recently he was at the school on Friday for an unofficial visit.

"I think the biggest thing for me was the education," Strizak said in explaining his decision. "It was mostly the education and the atmosphere up there. Also, the linebacker corps is so strong there, that had a lot to do with it."

The three-star prospect said he is solid in his commitment to the Eagles and won't be visiting any other schools.

Strizak admitted it was a tough decision. He went back and forth between Rutgers and Boston College as recently as last week before ultimately making his choice. He hasn't looked at the depth chart at BC so playing time didn't factor into his decision, nor does he know whether the school wants him to play inside or outside linebacker.

The Don Bosco prospect is ranked the No. 24 inside linebacker in the nation by Rivals.com. He has been clocked at 4.6 seconds in the 40-yard dash and bench presses 315 pounds.

Strizak is BC's 12th commitment from the Class of 2012 and the second linebacker to come on board.
