Payton Pumped About Michigan

Even before taking a trip to Ann Arbor, Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian wide receiver Jordan Payton held Michigan in high esteem. In fact, the Wolverines were occupying a lofty position on his list of favorites.

Despite his already-high opinion of Michigan, the 6-2, 190-pound Payton said his expectations were blown out of the water over the weekend.

Much of the craziness was due to the instant classic that played out on the field. Michigan scored 28 points in the fourth quarter to seal a comeback and knock off rival Notre Dame. Thanks to a night game atmosphere and a close contest, the fans put on an impressive performance.

It wasn't just the product in the stands that impressed Payton, however. He knows that Brady Hoke's coaching staff is installing completely new schemes on each side of the ball. Most teams struggle in that circumstance, but the Wolverines had more success than expected on Saturday night.

During the game, Michigan's commitments made Payton feel wlecome. Terry Richardson, Shane Morris, and Erik Magnuson were some of the biggest recruiters for Michigan in the stands. Off the field, the coaches echoed that the wide receiver is a priority for the Wolverines' recruiting effort.

Penn State is one school that he really wants to see before offering a commitment. A couple others could host a trip for the four-star, though he's not sure which ones right now. However, it sounds like Michigan is going to be hard to beat. When could a decision come?
