Perkins hauls in game-winner

Forrest County (Miss.) was in a tough spot trailing Bassfield late in the game Friday night and facing 4th-and-12 from the 36-yard line.

But three-star athlete Adarrius Perkins came through for the Aggies grabbing a game-winning touchdown for a 15-12 win improving to 3-1 on the year.

"For the most part it was pretty equal," Perkins said. "We were leading at halftime and they came out and scored once or twice and the final score ended up being 15-12. We won on a last second drive when I ran a post route and scored a touchdown. The play was designed to be all fade's but when the safety came down so I ran a post route right where he left from."

Perkins had been clutch all season for Forrest County hauling in six passes for 106 yards and two touchdown. He has also rushed six times for 24 yards and averaged 21 yards per punt return and 19.7 yards on kickoff returns.

This week the Aggies venture out on the road for the second week in a row traveling to Purvis.

"They are going to be about the same as us because their coach coached at our school," Perkins said. "Most of their stuff he got from us."

The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder currently has scholarship offers to Arkansas, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Southern Miss and Tennessee but does not want to narrow his list of choices until he has a chance to visit more of those programs.

"I'm starting to get some favorites but I'm really not sure because I haven't visited all the schools that are not in my top," Perkins said. "I really don't want to make a top and say I like a certain school more than another because I haven't visited all the places."

Safeties coach and recruiting coordinator Tony Hughes is recruiting Perkins for the Bulldogs.

"Coach Hughes told me I had a scholarship and that he would love to have me," Perkins said.
