Bell off to a strong start to senior season

Torrey Bell and his John Curtis (La.) teammates are off to a strong start to the 2011 season.

The Patriots are 5-0 and have outscored their opponents 181-25 on the year. Three of their wins have been via a shutout including the past two contests.

"After the season last year we've just been trying to come out and be physical with everybody no matter who the opponent is," Bell said. "We're just trying to get back on track to get to the top."

Last week John Curtis topped Riverside 48-0 thanks in part to Bell's four tackles from his defensive end spot.

"We figured they would be our toughest opponent in the district," Bell said. "We went out there first series three and out, second series three and out. We didn't take anything lightly when we got our lead. We just wanted to go out there and dominate all around. That's what we went out there with a mindset to do."

This week Bell and the Patriots take on Carver (3-2) in another conference matchup.
