Linebacker is on board with BC

Mike Strizak verbally committed to Boston College over the summer and he hasn't looked back since. The 6-foot-2, 228-pound linebacker from Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco Prep is one of the Eagles' top commitments from 2012 and he's still working hard to help his team win a championship.

Don Bosco had a bye during the first round of the state playoffs because of their regular season success but this week they'll take on Paramus Catholic, a team that dominated Seton Hall Prep in the first round 48-7.

So far this year Strizak has registered nine sacks and though he's unsure of his official tackle numbers he has been very active.

Strizak was planning on attending Boston College's game against NC State but those plans fell through. It would have been his first game at BC this year.

"I think I'm taking my official visit on December 10. I'm not positive who else will be there but that's just when Coach McGovern told me to come."

Strizak wishes the Eagles would have won more of their games this year but he understands the program is just going through some growing pains that he thinks will be temporary.

"They're a young team. Coach McGovern told me they had their last day of practice before Senior Day and they just had seven seniors on the front line.

"I think the youth is a good thing. I'll learn behind skill players and behind seasoned players. I think that will benefit me, coming in with the young team already playing together."

The Eagles are bringing Strizak in as a linebacker and he suspects he will be in the middle. He doesn't know a lot of his future teammates yet, but that will change when he takes his official.

"I actually played against Sam Grant. I believe he's a tight end for St. Edward. I had a couple of friendly words with him after the game. He's the only one I really know. I know of a couple of kids but I don't know them," he concluded.

Strizak is a three-star prospect and ranked the No. 19 tight end in the nation by
