Busy week ahead for Jefferson

The next 10 days will be busy ones for North Pike (Miss.) defensive end A.J. Jefferson.

The three-star prospect will officially visit his three finalists - Mississippi State, Southern Miss and Ole Miss - during that span and choose his future destination shortly thereafter.

"I've been doing a lot of schoolwork to get ready for it," Jefferson said. "I've pretty much been to all three of the schools. I'm still getting familiar with Coach (Hugh) Freeze but they seem cool. This weekend when I go to State, I know their whole staff and like all them. I'm just looking forward to hanging out with the players at these schools and seeing how I fit in with them."

Jefferson also took an official visit to Louisiana Tech along with teammates Vernon Butler and Tra'vez Taylor last weekend. Butler and Taylor both committed to Tech but Jefferson told BulldogBlitz.com that he sees himself remaining instate.

The first stop on Jefferson's Magnolia State tour will be Mississippi State. The Bulldogs have been the leader throughout most of Jefferson's recruitment which stems even beyond the gridiron.

"I like the school," Jefferson said. "If I wasn't playing football I think I'd still be able to go to school there and be successful academically and socially. I really like Coach (Chris) Wilson. He seems like the right coach who can get me where I need to be."

The 6-foot-4, 240-pounder will then take a midweek visit to Southern Miss and wrap up his official visits with a stop at Ole Miss on Jan. 27.
