AUSTIN, Texas -- Louisiana Tech is in need of bringing youth to its offensive line with the bulk of its depth chart being upperclassmen.
Once again Tech dipped into Texas to find an offensive lineman. Ross Lodge (Westwood HS, Texas), is a physically imposing offensive tackle at 6-6 290 pounds.
Lodge says he played in a spread style offense at Westwood and his strength is run blocking.
Lodge committed to the Bulldogs following a visit to Ruston with his mom. Both he and his mother enjoyed Ruston.
"I was impressed by the team the most and the coaching staff," said Lodge.
"My mom loved it in Ruston," Lodge said. "She liked all the coaches, how the campus is laid out and how the professors were into the football program."
Lodge said he was also reminded of how much Ruston looked like the outskirts of Austin.
"I was surprised at the size of Ruston," said Lodge. "I was expecting it to be really small and it instead reminded me of the outskirts of Austin, where I live."
Lodge said Tech wants him to play left tackle.
