Tight end recaps first trip to BC

Nathan Marcus had visited a couple of colleges prior to this past weekend but his unofficial visit to Boston College was the most in-depth trip he has taken to date.

The 6-foot-5, 210-pound tight end from Glen Ellyn (Ill.) Glenbard West was at Boston College on Sunday and Monday.

Boston College was the first BCS conference school to offer Marcus and that's one reason he wanted to check out Chestnut Hill. It sounds like the school lived up to his expectations and even exceeded them.

"It was great," Marcus told EagleAction.com this week. "I really liked it a lot."

Marcus attended the Eagles' basketball game against Duke and then got a closer look at what the football program has to offer.

"We got up early (Monday) morning and went over and met with a lot of the coaches. I got to sit in the tight ends' meeting, too.

"The coaches all had the same message. They really choose who they go after and they want you to choose them back. If you don't feel like you belong it's understandable.

"I definitely see myself fitting in there," he stated.

Marcus had already taken brief trips to Iowa and Illinois but his visit to Boston College was the most thorough yet.

How would he compare BC to the two Big Ten schools he has visited?

"It seems like it's a very prestigious school and a very competitive school. I really like the academic rigor but it also has a good football program and athletics to go with it," he explained.

Marcus is unsure of what the future holds but said he plans on visiting some schools over spring break.

He denies having any favorites.

"I'd like to keep an open mind about all the schools. I'm not settling on any one school yet," he said.
