Gibbs has interest
Defensive tackle Kenton Gibbs has started for Detroit Cass Tech since his sophomore year and helped lead the team to a state title this past season. Now, heading into his senior year, the 6-foot-2, 290-pound Gibbs looks to build on that success and have another strong campaign in 2012.
"Getting the state title felt great," said Gibbs. "The PSL had never won a Division I state championship, so we were the first team to ever do it. It meant a lot to us."
"Now, I think we've got to work even harder this year," he continued. "Last year, we were the hunter, but now that we won the state championship, we're going to get everybody's best game."
Along with team success, Gibbs has also earned some individual honors after racking up 25 TFL as a junior. That type of production has helped him land five early scholarship offers and interest from several others.
"Right now, I have offers from Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan, Northern Illinois, Toledo, and Illinois," Gibbs said. "Then I'm hearing a lot from Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Nebraska, South Carolina, and some others too."
