Ohio DT has Iowa near the top
Ohio defensive tackle Brant Gressel says that he already had Iowa among his top schools before his first visit to Iowa City and after this weekend the Hawkeyes have solidified their spot. The 6-foot-2, 280-pound Gressel talks about the trip, where the Hawkeyes stand, when he might make a decision, and much more.
Q: What all did you get to do out at Iowa today?
GRESSEL: We actually drove in from Dayton last night, so we got up early this morning and met with the coaches, saw the weight room, and met with their strength and conditioning coach, which I really liked, just talking to Coach Doyle. Then right now I'm thinking I want to go into engineering, so we met with one of the engineering advisors and kind of picked his brain on if any players are doing engineering, how they are doing, and just if it's do-able. Because I've been to other schools and when you mention that you want to go into engineering, it's like they cringe. I didn't get that feeling at Iowa. I felt like they were definitely supportive and the engineering department and football team and other athletics all work together. After that, we went to the stadium and I got to sit in on the d-line meeting a little bit and watched some film. Then I took a tour of the game day locker rooms and got to see the visitor's locker room and it's all pink. I never knew about that or had heard of it before. Then we came back out and they scrimmaged for about two quarters and that was the end of practice. Afterwards, I got to sit down with the head coach, Coach Ferentz, for about thirty or forty minutes and chatted about how the visit went and just kind of talked a little bit and that was about it. I had a great time. It was a great visit.
