Shortridge takes his time

Loxahatchee (Fla.) Seminole Ridge defensive tackle Kyle Shortridge, who committed to Wake Forest Monday, July 9 before de-committing five days later (Tuesday, July 15), has an official visit scheduled to Nebraska for Friday, Aug. 31.

"[I hope to] see something I like [at Nebraska], so I can see everything they have to offer," Shortridge said.

The 6-foot-2 and 280-pounder, who rates as a three-star recruit and as the No. 95 prospect in the state of Florida, claims scholarship offers from Boise State, Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Connecticut, Florida Atlantic, Georgia State, Indiana, Iowa State, Kentucky, Louisville, Marshall, Michigan State, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Missouri, Nebraska, Purdue, South Florida, Texas A&M, Tulane, Wake Forest, West Virginia, Western Kentucky and Wisconsin.

He is looking for a school with a football program that will help him become a big-time player.

Outside of his upcoming trip to Nebraska Shortridge is unsure of where he will take his other official visits, but he hopes to complete them as soon as possible. He has not been to any schools since going to Wake last month.

Shortridge plans to choose a school sometime this fall.

He said the Demon Deacons are still in the mix for him. Ray McCartney is his primary recruiter for Wake Forest.

"He [McCartney] told me a lot about the school and showed me around," Shortridge said. "I talk with him a lot."

Shortridge said he will probably make an official visit to Wake.

His teammate Rayfield Dixon, an outside linebacker, also claims a scholarship from the Deacs.
