Taylor II enjoys Freak Show experience

When the The Rivals Camp Series rolled into Richmond in April, Darvin Taylor II was still flying a bit under the radar.

After putting on a solid performance that Saturday afternoon, Taylor II's offer list now includes schools like South Carolina, Wake Forest, Florida State, Maryland, Miami, N.C. State, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.

This weekend Taylor II spent some time in Chapel Hill participating in Fedora's Freak Show, UNC football's premier summer camp event that featured many of the top targets
UNC's been keeping their eyes on.

Taylor got a chance to work in drills conducted by defensive line coach Keith Gilmore.

The experience provided valuable experience for the 2015 defensive lineman from Thomas Dale (Va.).

"I enjoyed it a lot. I was able to see where I'm at as far as going up against some of the best-of-the-best," said Taylor II. "I had a lot of fun. I enjoy every time I'm able to go out and talk to a coach specifically one-on-one."

Being a 2015 player means Taylor II still has a lot of time to refine his game. He's a self-aware recruits who is always evaluating his game and using these valuable moments going against other talented to players to take a heat check on his abilities.

"I was able to take away that I still need to work on some things like hand-movement and simple stuff," said Taylor II. "I was able to see where I was at physically. I thought I did very well. I thought I did pretty well."

As of this writing Taylor II doesn't have an offer from UNC.
However the interest is there for the Tar Heels and Taylor II talked about what it would mean to get an offer from North Carolina and talked about his impressions of the campus after visiting.

"Well it's always been a dream. My mom's mom is from North Carolina so it was good to go down there and see the football and basketball stadiums," said Taylor II. They are very good at putting defensive linemen in the national football league but they also have great academics too. I enjoyed it a lot."

Will UNC be offering the big man from Virginia in the near future?

"They said they were going to watch my film this week so, we'll see."

Taylor II participated in three camps over the summer with the last one being the Freak Show on Saturday. He still anticipates logging some mileage this summer as he tries to visit the schools that are showing him interest.

"That was actually my last camp. I got a chance to go to Virginia Tech and North Carolina State," said Taylor II. "I'm trying to go to Old Dominion, Florida State, Miami, West Virginia and Maryland. Back up to Virginia Tech. N.C. State and North Carolina. South Carolina."

For now, Taylor II is letting things come to him and evaluating at his own pace.

"I've enjoyed the process so far. I've
gotten a good impression from all of the schools. Right now all of the schools are number one to me," said Taylor II. "I'm just trying to see what's the best fit going to be for me as far as the long run."
He's been able to get some feedback on his

game from coaches and his motor is one of the more lasting impressions he leaves on talent evaluators at the next level among one other very important aspect of being a student-athlete.

"They say they like my grades. They like the transcript," said Taylor II. "They say I'm explosive, strong and agile. I don't give up on plays even if I can't catch the guy they like that I don't give up. There is still a chance I could catch him."
