Louisiana LB on Frogs radar

In the 2008 recruiting class, the TCU football coaching staff crossed the state line into Louisiana and grabbed three prospects the Frogs hope will make an immediate impact. Those players, receiver Justin Moreaux, safety Chris Scott, and corner Bud Patterson are the foundation of what the coaches hope to continue by landing players from the talent rich state.

The Frogs have already made a strong push in the state pursuing players such as five star receiver Rueben Randle and super back Montrell Conner. Another name that has popped up on the Frogs radar recently is Shreveport Bryd linebacker Jonathan Stewart. The 6-foot-4, 220-pounder racked up 109tackles as a junior earning him first-team district honors.

So far Stewart has five offers in the fold from Texas Tech, Michigan State, Duke, Arizona, and Texas A&M. Stewart feels a few others may be close to extending an offer his way.

"I get the most mail from Texas Tech," he said. "I think maybe LSU may be close to offering, maybe Tennessee, and maybe a couple others."

Stewart says TCU has showed interest recently but not as much as the others.

"They haven't showed too much interest," he said. "They said they would probably come down and watch my practice. They like me as a linebacker slash defensive end type player. Coach Anderson is the coach recruiting me."

"I do have an interest in them, I just don't know too much about them."

Stewart did have plans to see TCU up close this week as he planned on making the Nike Camp this Saturday. However, he'll have to see TCU another time.

"I was coming up there for the Nike Camp this Saturday but it's on the same day as our prom. I plan on attending two camps but I have to decide which one's I want to attend."

As far as a decision Stewart says he'll wait out the process and make his choice after close inspection.

"I'll wait and make my visits," he said. "I want to look at everything thoroughly and make the right decision for me."
