Davis dominates at UT camp

In order to be an elite-level cornerback at the high Division-I level, you have to have a lot of confidence, perhaps even borderline cockiness.

As League City (Texas) Clear Creek star Marcus Davis returned from the Texas one-day summer camp on Sunday, the confidence level for the 6-0, 193-pound cornerback was at an all-time level.

"The camp was great," Davis said. "In my one-on-one's, I pretty much shut everyone down. I can pretty much say that I did great because I shut down all of the top receivers that were there like (Greg) Timmons. I didn't give up anything all day. I pretty much had a solid day."

At this point, you won't hear anyone that was at the camp disagreeing with Davis. Whether it was Austin High's Emory Blake, Allen's Uzoma Nwachukwu or Rowlett's Marquis Goodwin, all of the players that faced Davis gave him rave reviews.

Of course, Davis had some praise to give out as well.

"Timmons caught a lot of deep balls today. He's really good," Davis said. "The kid from Allen was pretty good, too. It was a lot of fun to compete against those guys because they really challenged me,"

After visiting Texas numerous times this season, Davis said that the entire Longhorn recruiting class is really starting to bond.

The best part of the day was just getting to see everyone on the field together," Davis said. "I don't know if there were any real standouts at the camp because everybody that was there was really good. All of us are pretty close and after the camp ended we all stood around and talked for a long time."
