Rivals250 DT Wants to Equal Hype

You often hear coaches talk about a highly acclaimed player letting all the fanfare and attention go to his head but it's next to never that the player says the same of himself. Such a reality makes Dominique Jones of Midwest City, Okla. defensive tackle, a member of the Rivals250 for 2010 watchlist, as unique off the field as on it.

The 6-foot-1, 265-pound defensive tackle admitted that all of the talk that has surrounded him over the past few months at times has been a disturbance on the field.

"I mean it's people that are getting to know me more, I notice more double teams and that kind of stuff," Jones said. "I don't think I've played up to my potential yet, I think just cause all of the people talk about me, that it is too much of a distraction sometimes.

"It's just people telling me about my rankings and I feel like I've got to hold myself to how they expect me to play. It's like people keep putting more pressure on me to play, people telling me what I can do.

"I'm getting to where I can block all that out and focus on just playing my game."
