Stewart enjoys official to A&M

Shreveport (LA) Byrd linebacker Jonathan Stewart committed to Texas A&M last summer, choosing the Aggies over offers from a myriad of schools such as Alabama, Tennessee, Cal and Texas Tech.

Since then, the 6-foot-4, 221-pound defender has made it clear that, even though he is committed to the Aggies, he would still like to go through the recruiting process. The end result has been that he has taken unofficial visits to LSU and Alabama and an official to Cal.

Nonetheless, the four-star prospect has remained committed to the Aggies and last weekend the A&M staff got their chance to make their biggest impression on him yet when he and his father, Judge James Stewart, made an official visit to College Station. The younger Stewart had a chance to meet his future teammates and both he and father got a chance to assess the state of the Aggie program up close which is coming off of a 4-8 season.

"He had a great visit," said Judge Stewart. "Having been there before, we got a look at other things that caught our eye. We thought that [the A&M staff] had great attention to detail. Having gone through the season, they kind of understand what they need to do now. They have a better understanding of what it takes. They had a positive attitude about the program. You didn't see any battle scars or depression on their part. They knew what they needed to do.
