VIDEO: Zeigler, McCallum, Petros pace Team Detroit

DIMONDALE, Mich. - The inside-out tandem of Corey Petros and Trey Zeigler were the driving force for Team Detroit in their 20-point victory over the L.A. Stars in their first of two games played at Aim High on Saturday.

Petros and Zeigler were at it again in the nightcap, a 60-24 running-clock drubbing of the Grand Rapids Vipers.

Ray McCallum also gave Team Detroit a spark with 9 points in his club's 58-38 victory over the L.A. Stars and 10 points against the over-matched Vipers.

In both games Zeigler demonstrated his versatility. Splitting time with McCallum at point guard, Zeigler ran the floor well, demonstrated excellent vision and was able to finish himself when his teammates were not open.

When Zeigler was on the wing, he was the most consistent perimeter shooter for Team Detroit. Zeigler scored 9 of his team-high 14 points from beyond the arc against the L.A.Stars. Zeigler followed up with 10 points against the Vipers. With the game will in hand midway through the second half, Zeigler, McCallum and the rest of the Team Detroit starters gave way to the reserves.

McCallum started slowly in the first game against the L.A. Stars, but bounced back in the second half to finish with 9 points. In the second game against McCallum scored 10 points. Two of McCallum's field goals game on putbacks. The DCD star scored the rest in transition.

To his credit, McCallum played within himself for most of Saturday night's games. He did not get frustrated when he wasn't hitting shots early and was satisfied by getting his teammates involved. And when he did get the ball in position to score, McCallum did not hesitate to shoot.

The State of Michigan has plenty of frontcourt talent in 2010. Alex Gauna and Jon Horford have gotten most of the headlines this summer, but Team Detroit's Corey Petros is a talented big man with the ability to score with his back to the basket and on the perimeter.

Petros the most consistent big man for Team Detroit. The Utica Eisenhower standout had double-digit rebounding efforts in both game with 11 boards against the L.A. Stars and 12 more against the Vipers. Petros scored 12 points in the opening game and added 8 more in the nightcap.

Team Detroit has a number of quality big men, including Detroit Southeastern junior Percy Gibson and his Jungaleer teammate Will Gholston, the top football player in Michigan for 2010.

Gabriel Richard's Javon Harden is another consistent contributor for Team Detroit. A quick-leaper, Harden is 6-foot-8 athlete with plenty of potential. He was active on the glass during both games and ran the floor well.

A late arrival on Saturday, Gibson notched a couple of field goals against the L.A. Stars. Gibson showed a face-up jumper on Saturday. He also showed good touch around the basket.
