Palm Beach County summer top 40

Now that spring practice has ended and we are in the middle of the summer circuit we look at the top performers from Palm Beach County. We bring to you our summer edition of the top 40.

1. James Louis - Delray Beach Atlantic - Wide Receiver

Louis looked outstanding in his spring game taking a short pass and breaking a couple tackles and then out running everyone to the end zone.

2. Greg Dent - Glades Central - Cornerback/Wide Receiver

Dent had an outstanding spring game with 2 interceptions while playing cornerback. He also started at wide receiver making a couple of grabs in the first half. He has continued his outstanding play this summer with dominating performances in 7-on-7 tournaments.

3. Matt Elam - Dwyer - Safety

It is tough to project what position Elam will play in college. He may not be fluid enough to play safety and he may not be big enough to play linebacker. In the end running back maybe he best position.

4. Chris Dunkley - Pahokee - Wide Receiver

Dunkley missed a good portion of spring ball due to an injury, but he is back at it this summer. It will be interesting to see if he many touches he gets this fall with all the talented wide receivers at Pahokee.

5. Richard Ash - Pahokee - Defensive Tackle

Ash's potential is through the roof. Once he gets into a quality strength and conditioning program look out.

6. Antonio Ford - Pahokee - Defensive Tackle

Ford had a good spring game against Boyd Anderson High School. On offense or defense when Ford is on the field he plays with a nasty demeanor.

7. Darius Millines - Delray Beach American Heritage - Wide Receiver

Millines is a very versatile athlete who lines up all over the field for American Heritage. He looks the best with the ball in his hands.

8. De'Joshua Johnson - Pahokee - Wide Receiver

The FSU commit is very good in space. I would like to see him limit his drops though.

9. Gerald Christian - Dwyer - Tight End

Christian is one of the top tight ends in the nation. He also plays linebacker and could project to defensive end in college.

10. Shane McDermott - Palm Beach Central - Offensive Line

The University of Miami commit, McDermott shows a good pop at the line of scrimmage. He will probably be tried at center when he gets to college.

11. James Potts - Delray Beach American Heritage - Running Back

Potts is one of the better running backs in Florida that nobody talks about.

12. Eluzies Vil - Delray Beach Atlantic - Linebacker

Vil is the leader of Atlantic's defense. He isn't flashy but he just makes a lot of tackles.

13. Merrill Noel - Pahokee - Cornerback

Noel is going to have to make the transition from safety to cornerback in college. Noel has blazing speed and is very physical at the line of scrimmage.

14. Robert Clark - Dwyer - Cornerback

Clark is great return man who will make his mark in college right away on special teams. He also is an explosive wide receiver on offense for Dwyer.

15. Johnnie Simon - Palm Beach Lakes - Safety

Simon lines up a lot at linebacker for Lakes, but he can cover a lot of ground at safety.

16. Clive Walford - Glades Central - Tight End

Walford burst on the scene this spring. He is making the transition from the hardwood to the gridiron and doing it very well.

17. Zach Allen - Pahokee - Linebacker

Allen plays defensive end in high school and will have to make the transition to linebacker in college. He runs well and has long arms.

18. Leron Thomas - Glades Central - Quarterback

Thomas isn't always pretty but he just plays with a calmness about him and makes plays.

19. D.J. McCellion - Delray Beach Atlantic - Defensive Tackle

McCellion isn't the tallest defensive tackle but he gets a lot of penetration on the line of scrimmage.

20. Eddie Sullivan - Boca Raton - Quarterback

Sullivan is perfect for the spread offense. He can really spin it and runs well enough to keep you honest. His height is a concern though.

21. Tavares Crawford - Glades Central - Cornerback
22. Mark Leal - Delray Beach Atlantic - Quarterback
23. Fred Pickett - Pahokee - Wide Receiver
24. Tony Kibler - Glades Day - Offensive Line
25. Willis Bowles - Pahokee - Offensive Line

27. Peniel Jean - Palm Beach Central - Safety
28. Ken Shaw - Dwyer - Tight End/Defensive End
29. Travis Bell - Glades Central - Safety
30. Justin Halley - Boca Raton - Safety
31. Woodley Cadet - Seminole Ridge - Safety
