DE lands new offer

The Oregon coaches have found another fast rising defensive lineman and offered him a scholarship on Wednesday morning. He's 6' 4", 240lb. Tony Washington from Los Osos High in Rancho Cucamonga, CA.

"I got my offer from Oregon just this morning," said Washington. Coach Aliotti emailed me last night and said it was important and that I should call him in the morning. So I got ahold of him at 11 o'clock this morning and he offered me. Washington is a three-star rated player who is a member of the Rivals Pre-Season Top 100 players in California, and the nation's 46th ranked defensive end.

The Ducks join a long list of teams trying to get the speedy Washington to visit their campus, and appear to be on the verge of lining up an official visit with him. "We're talking about my possibly visiting the 3rd of October actually. That's the Washington State game and it's the weekend that my high school team has a bye so it might work out real well."

Washington holds an even dozen other offers now with his new offer from the Ducks; including both Arizona schools, Oregon State, Hawaii, UTEP and Colorado State. In addition, UCLA is coming on strong in his recruiting. Despite all the offers he says nobody leads at this point. "I want to say I have a list. I like some schools more than others but I haven't really sat down and narrowed it to a final list. I like different schools for different reasons. First, I want a team that's successful. A team that works hard at all times. And location's not that big of a thing to me. How close to home it is isn't important. That's what I'm really looking for."

A decision won't be coming anytime soon for Washington though. "I'm going to take all my five visits and I'll make the decision when the time is right. Right now I'm thinking it'll be after the season. After I take all my visits and see what the environments and the schools are like. I want to see it all up close and then I'll make my decision."
