Williams ready to get started

Dallas (Texas) Bryan Adams three-star linebacker and Texas Tech commit Kris Williams is hard at work preparing for his last high school football season.

"I'd say it's going good," he said. "I think it's the best two-a-days I've had since I was in high school. I've been working hard, harder than I've ever worked in my life."

While Tech has been recruiting him as a linebacker, Williams was originally planning on playing slot receiver. He's moved his focus over to defense, but the Metroplex defender still enjoys going out for passes.

"I play slot receiver, wide receiver. Before I knew I was getting recruited for defense, I was really focusing on receiver," he said. "That was my primary position, but then I found out I was being recruited for defense mainly, now my focus is more on defense, but I still like offense."

Williams has also been keeping in contact with a few of his 2012 Texas Tech classmates, primarily Waco (Texas) La Vega defensive lineman Michael Starts.

"I kind of talk to him a lot," Williams said. "We talk about getting ready for football season, and I guess we talked about me and him becoming roommates when we get there. It's just a lot of stuff about football and school."

Williams committed to Tech in June over offers from Arizona State, Cal, Nevada, SMU, Tulsa and others.
