Strizak talks about winning

Mike Strizak said he enjoyed the recruiting process, talking to college coaches and getting a feel for all kinds of programs but he's also happy that he doesn't have to deal with those things anymore because he picked Boston College over the summer.

Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan State, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, Rutgers and Virginia were some other programs that had offered Strizak, a three-star inside linebacker from Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco Prep, but the Eagles won out and he's not looking back at other teams.

Even though Boston College has struggled this season, Strizak said his decision is final and he's going to stick with the Eagles.

"I liked the process a lot, I think it was a fun process but I do think it's good to just have football on my mind," said Strizak, who plans to take his official visit to Boston College after the season.

"This way I don't have to worry about where I'm going to be the next couple years. I liked the process but I'm happy I have a spot now."

Strizak's sole focus remains on his Don Bosco Prep team, widely regarded as the top high school team in the country.

Not only have the Ironmen won 42 straight games but they've beaten Mission Viejo, Calif., Bradenton (Fla.) Manatee, Bergen (N.J.) Catholic, Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward and other top teams this season.

Don Bosco Prep has outscored its opponents 271-67 this season. Strizak predicted his Don Bosco team should finish out the regular season undefeated - again.

"Our grade has never lost a game in freshman, sophomore, JV or on varsity," Strizak said. "It's well-deserved just how hard we work. We work so hard for every single win we get so I think it's well-deserved.

"You never want to be the class that ends the streak. You never really want to overlook anybody. Everybody has the potential to beat you so we can't overlook anybody.

"I think it's just hard work and being around each other and wanting to win that much more than anybody else."
