Class A Division I State Championship

Stamford (13-2) vs. Mason (14-0) Thursday Noon Cowboys Stadium, Arlington: Stamford has made a surprising run to the title game, along the way the Bulldogs knocked off both teams that handed them their losses in the regular season. Last week Stamford rolled past favored Mart 47-28 as QB Hagen Hutchinson threw for 353 yards and five touchdowns along with one other score on the ground. Stamford's defense rose to the occasion containing Mart's offense, while the offense exploded for 35 second half points. Mason has rolled through their 14 opponents with relative ease led by sensational RB David Mora, the senior has put up monster numbers the past three years and is looking to lead the Cowpunchers to the title. Mason last week rolled past Garrison 46-14, led by Mora's 170 yards and three touchdowns. Mason's defense did a fantastic job containing the speedy Garrison offensive attack, they'll have a tough challenge this week as Stamford throws it as well as anyone. Mason appears to be a team of destiny so look for the Cowpunchers to wear down the Bulldogs defense. Stepp's Pick: Mason by 10

Class A Division II State Championship

Munday (13-2) vs. Tenaha (13-0) Thursday 4:00pm Cowboys Stadium, Arlington: Munday has flown under the radar for most of the year, but the Moguls feature one of the most explosive offensive attacks in the state. Tenaha has been the number one team in the state from start to finish and now the Tigers will look to become wire to wire champions. Tenaha usually has a major speed advantage on their opponents led by Texas Tech verbal QB Reginald Davis, but Munday who is the defending Class A state champions in track has plenty of speed of their own. The Moguls rolled past an overmatched Wellington squad last week 62-22, Munday's three junior ball carriers had monster games as QB Dee Paul ran for 128 yards and three touchdowns, while Roddrick Taylor had 113 yards and three touchdowns. Big FB Tyrone Neskorik had 89 yards and two touchdowns as well. Tenaha rolled through an overmatched Burton bunch 63-28. Davis led the way for the Tigers with 439 all purpose yards and six touchdowns and Tenaha's often forgotten defense recovered two early fumbles and recovered a squib kick to jump out to a 21-0 lead and then putting it on cruise control. This one on paper should be one of the most entertaining games of the weekend, tons of speed on the field for Class A schools. Look for Tenaha to win an absolute classic. Stepp's Pick: Tenaha by 4
