Post grad year at FUMA pays off

Former Mills Godwin tight-end Scott Davis (class of 2011) has committed to a team in the MAC Conference. After gaining All-Region and All-Metro honors his senior season at Godwin, the 6-foot-5, 250 pound Davis spent this past fall playing for Coach John Shuman on the Fork Union Military Academy post graduate team. His journey through Fork Union paid off with major dividends, as Davis came away with four FBS offers and several other FCS and Division 2 scholarship offers. In December, Davis decided to take his talents to Bowling Green State University, in which he enrolled this past January.

Steve Roberts had the opportunity to sit down with Davis and find out what led to his final decision.

Roberts: Scott, you went to Fork Union Post-Grad this past fall. Tell us about your experience and how it helped you prepare for playing at the next level.

Scott Davis: The military environment allowed me to focus on football and school. After playing a step up from high school competition, I feel that I am prepared for the college game.

Roberts: What schools showed the most interest during the fall and which schools ended up offering full offers?

Scott Davis: I received official offers from: Eastern Michigan, Ohio University, Ball State, Bowling Green, Indiana State, and Memphis.

Roberts: What did those schools say that they liked about your game?

Scott Davis: In general, most schools said that they liked my size, my athleticism, and my hands,

Roberts: Why did you commit to Bowling Green? Tell us more about how you will fit in there at TE?

Scott Davis: I chose Bowling Green because I am comfortable with the coaching staff and the offense Bowling Green runs. As a tight end I feel like I have a chance to play early.
