Stallings, Morin drafted Day Two

A pair of Tar Heels were taken on day two of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Tuesday as senior Jacob Stallings was tabbed by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the seventh round and junior Michael Morin was selected in the 13th round by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Stallings finished his senior year with a .294 average to rank second on the team, while driving in a team-best 42 runs in 62 games.

The Brentwood, Tenn., native tallied 24 doubles to finish in a tie for fourth on the Carolina single season list.

Stallings helped anchor one of the top pitching staffs in the country in 2012 and will go down as one of the top catchers in Carolina history.

Stallings was tabbed No. 226 by the Pittsburgh Pirates with the eighth pick in the seventh round.

Morin racked up a UNC and Atlantic Coast Conference record 19 saves in 2012, while posting a 6-4 mark. Morin finished the year with a 1.40 ERA in 38 appearances.

The Leawood, Kan., native threw 58 innings on the year and posted a 55 to 19 strikeout to walk ratio.

Morin was the 417th overall selection in the draft by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, the 19th pick in the 13th round.
