ACC Weekend Preview, Sept. 28 - ACCSports.com
Perhaps ESPN, which is fond of giving labels to college football weeks (Rivalry Week, Judgment Week, etc.), should label this "The Week-After Week In The ACC." Florida State finally proved itself on a big national stage against Clemson, can the Seminoles avoid stumbling against regional rival South Florida? What about FSU's victim, Clemson? Can it right itself on its trip to Boston College? And how will Miami respond to its epic victory over Georgia Tech when it takes the field against N.C. State?

Preview: Idaho Vandals at North Carolina Tar Heels - CBSSports.com
North Carolina coach Larry Fedora called Idaho "the best 0-4 team in the country," but there will probably be plenty of good seats available at Kenan Stadium on Saturday.

IDAHO-UNC: Money can buy a home game, if not happiness - Durham Herald-Sun
Saturday's home game against Idaho (3:30 p.m., Fox Sports Carolinas) will mark the first time North Carolina scheduled a team west of the Mississippi River since Utah came to Kenan Stadium in 2005. While the opponent may be unusual - UNC has never faced Idaho, or any other current member of the Western Athletic Conference - the reason behind the matchup is familiar. Saturday's game was scheduled so both teams could make almost $1 million.

ACC Football Capsules: Week Five - FoxSportsSouth.com
The Vandals and Tar Heels meet for the first time ever. Idaho lost at LSU 63-14 two weeks ago and last week lost at home to Wyoming in overtime. UNC is coming off a thorough win over East Carolina, and the Tar Heels are two plays from being unbeaten. Of course, they are where they deserve, as inconsistency has been an issue. UNC needs to come out firing and win big.

Lucas: Hairston shoots for better year - GoHeels.com
P.J. Hairston has spent most of his life talking about shooting a basketball. It's always been in complimentary terms. Coaches want to tell him how gifted he is. Teammates want to know how he stays so consistent. Fans want to congratulate him for another big performance.

Turner's Take: The Steady Climb - GoHeels.com
Last weekend, the Carolina defense put together its finest half of football yet in the last 30 minutes against East Carolina. The Tar Heels did not allow the Pirates on the scoresheet and held the visitors to just 71 yards of total offense. There's a trend that seems to be emerging: Carolina has allowed just 10 second-half points through four games and has outscored opponents 52-0 in third quarters. But what you saw Saturday was the most complete defensive performance to date. The Tar Heels rattled ECU quarterback Shane Carden early and then sacked him six times in the second half. That was due to pressure from the front and lock-down coverage in the back of the defense.

Florida State got a brilliant goalkeeper performance from Kelsey Wys as the top-ranked Seminoles defeated #9 North Carolina 1-0 Thursday night in women's soccer action before 1,511 fans at Fetzer Field.
