A Closer Look: UNCG

The Tar Heels venture back home to Chapel Hill after getting a huge road win and momentum boost against No. 1 Michigan State Wednesday night in the ACC/ Big Ten Challenge.

Now, Roy Williams welcomes in a friend and a former player, as Wes Miller and the UNC-Greensboro Spartans travel down I-40 to Chapel Hill.

Miller has done a great job with the Spartans so far and looks to be well on his way in the coaching world, and even though his record might not show it, currently holding a 26-45 overall in three seasons, Miller certainly has changed that program around from what it used to be.

The Tar Heels will look to pick up a much needed win and a win that they should have against an inferior opponent before Kentucky comes into town next week.

Obviously things didn't go so well last time Coach WIlliams met one of his proteges, as Jerod Haase and UAB took the Tar Heels down last weekend in Birmingham.

And given how inconsistent the Tar Heels have been, beating top five teams in Louisville and Michigan State but falling flat against the likes of UAB and Belmont, it's important they not overlook Miller's hungry UNC-G squad that will know a lot about what's coming at them with a former UNC player coaching them.

Tar Heel Illustrated checks in on the numbers of the Spartans, as they are looking to upset the Tar Heels Saturday evening in the Smith Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
