Noil picks A&M over LSU

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- After months of speculation and flirtations with schools from across the country, New Orleans (La.) Edna Carr wide receiver Speedy Noil is leaving his home state for a chance to play in Kevin Sumlin's explosive offense at Texas A&M. Noil announced the decision during Thursday's Under Armour All-America Game.

"It felt like home on my official visit," Noil said during the first quarter of Thursday's Under Armour All-America game.

Many had assumed that Noil would stay close to home and play for LSU, but a late push from the Aggies and a strong sales pitch regarding his role in the offense was enough to put A&M over the top.

Noil revealed his choice by putting his gloves together, which formed Texas A&M's logo.

Noil caught a 64-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter of Thursday's game.

Noil said earlier this week that once his decision is announced it's final, and he will not consider any other schools going forward.

"Once I pick my school on Thursday, it is what it is," Noil said told Rivals.com on Saturday.

While he admitted it was tough to spurn the school on his list closest to home, the chance to play early in his career was too much to pass up.

"I'm a wide receiver and they spread their wide receivers on the field," Noil said earlier in the week of A&M. "I could get on the field early as a freshman, and I also have a former teammate from high school on the team (Noel Ellis). I would have somebody I could talk to and relate to."
