A Closer Look: Syracuse Orange

The Tar Heels are struggling right now, there is no doubt about it, and it looks like it won't get any easier this weekend.

After dropping 0-2 in conference play, the Tar Heels now have to travel to the Carrier Dome for the first time ever in Atlantic Coast Conference play, as the Tar Heels come up against the No. 2 Syracuse Orange Saturday afternoon.

Miami was able to exploit the Tar Heels using a zone defense Wednesday, as North Carolina only mustered up 57 points in the loss (the lowest point total of the season).

Now, they will face an even tougher zone defense against Syracuse, something that head coach Jim Boeheim has perfected over the years.

The Orangemen are one of the top defenses in the nation, as they have been limiting their opponents to 59.3 points per game.

The Tar Heels, who have struggled lately and especially shooting from the perimeter (they're one of the worst three-point shooting teams in the entire nation), will have to have a perfect game plan to secure their first win in the ACC or they will be facing an uphill battle for the rest of the year starting out 0-3.

Tar Heel Illustrated breaks down the numbers for the favored Orange. Tip-off is scheduled for 12:00 PM EST Saturday afternoon.
