Sanders among nation's hottest recruiters

As the commitments start to roll in for college football programs and recruiting classes for 2007 start to take shape, assistant coaches from coast to coast are running point for programs and pulling this talent in. Given the slew of pledges during the early months of summer, Rivals.com looks at five of the nation's hottest recruiters at this point.

Stan Drayton, Florida
A Rivals.com Top 25 recruiter in 2006, Drayton has an astonishing six early commitments, all from one high school, in this year's class. Drayton is the recruiter of record for Lakeland High standouts Chris Rainey, Ahmad Black, LaShawn Pouncey, James Pouncey, Paul Wilson and Steve Wilks, all of whom have committed to the Gators. Drayton also is the point man on five-star prospects Torrey Davis (defensive tackle, top prospect in Florida) and Caleb King (nation's top running back, Georgia's top prospect), along with a seventh Lakeland standout, Rivals100 defensive tackle John Brown. JC Shurburtt

Commitments: Ahmad Black, James Pouncey, LaShawn Pouncey, Chris Rainey, Steve Wilks, Paul Wilson

Doug Meacham, Oklahoma State
Meacham has definitely been a coach hitting the state of Texas hard and was involved with three of the four commitments so far for the Cowboys. Last year, Meacham was just as successful landing four-star defensive back Perrish Cox among others. This year, it appears that the Central Texas region is becoming a backyard for Oklahoma State with much persistence from the staff and Meacham. Aside from the commitments, Meacham also has put OSU in good position with top Texas prospects like Damien Davis, Billy Chavis, Courtney Green, and Detron Lewis. The Cowboys' strong Texas-filled class in 2006 has a great chance at repeating in 2007 with the work done by Meacham. John Talman

Commitments: Tyrell Higgins, Nick Martinez, Jonathan Rush

Raheem Morris, Kansas State
There were a lot of questions about how talented of a recruiter Morris, the Kansas State defensive coordinator, would be. When you looked at his resume three years in the NFL and only one season at Hofstra some wondered how he would do recruiting against the best of the best in the Big 12. He's doing just fine, thank you. Morris has been involved as the lead recruiter for eight of K-State's 17 commitments. To put things in better perspective, Morris has landed more commitments by himself at this point than nine other Big 12 schools. He's also in charge of recruiting the always important Kansas City area for the Wildcats. Jeremy Crabtree

Commitments: Demetrius Bell, Colten Freeze, Payton Kirk, Kendrick Matthews, Tyrone Sonier, Adonis Thomas, Brandon Walls, Justin Woods

Marvin Sanders, North Carolina
Sanders secured a commitment from five-star wide receiver Dwight Jones early in the process and also closed the deal on linebacker Albert Craddock. Both players were top targets in state for the Heels and Sanders has UNC heavily in the mix for Rivals100 cornerback Marcus Gilchrist. UNC is off to its hottest start in recruiting since Mack Brown was in Chapel Hill and Sanders is one of the big reasons why. Mike Farrell

Commitments: Albert Craddock, Dwight Jones

Dave Ungerer, Alabama
The Crimson Tide tight ends and special teams coach has made in-roads in the greater Tampa area for Alabama and his presence has already paid off in the form of three commitments, including four-star wide receiver Jermaine McKenzie, sleeper quarterback Robert Marve and cornerback Sherod Murdock. Ungerer also has the Crimson Tide strongly in the mix for defensive tackle Torrey Davis, the state of Florida's top prospect in the class of 2007. JC Shurburtt

Commitments: Robert Marve, Jermaine McKenzie, Sherod Murdock
