North Carolina offered 2017 small forward Kris Wilkes on Wednesday, the player tweeted out this afternoon.

Wilkes, a 5-star prospect rated the No. 17 player in the class, has also been offered by Arizona, Kansas, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, and Michigan State, among many others.

This offer is the fourth so far this week for the Tar Heels, but the first to a prospect in the class of 2017. At 6-7, 185 pounds, Wilkes attends North Central H.S. in Indianapolis, IN.

Just this past weekend, Wilkes spoke with Rivals site TheWolverine.com about his recruitment. One thing stood out that suggests he could handle playing for Roy Williams. Recent evidence is the growth and development of Brice Johnson fitting what Wilkes says he wants from a program.

“The No. 1 thing, you’ve got to go somewhere where they will develop you, not where they’ll kiss your butt, say you’re good, blah blah blah,” Wilkes said. “You’ve got to go somewhere where they’ll push you and help you get to that next level.”
