Kissimmee (FL) class of 2018 running back Malcolm Davidson recently named his top ten schools, which included Kentucky, Ole Miss, Virginia Tech, Missouri, N.C. State and, of course, North Carolina, among others.

UNC offered the versatile back two months ago, and since then Davidson has been keeping constant contact as the classes at various schools begin to fill out.

Tight ends coach Chad Scott is the 5-10, 193 pounder's primary recruiter.

"I talk to Coach Scott very often. He said they are taking two running backs," Davidson told THI.

Which enhances Davidson’s chances of becoming a Tar Heel. The program recently lost out on Zamir White, the top back in the nation, and while Davidson might not be the first option at tailback, he might be a quality second option. And, since UNC’s staff pays no attention to star ratings, his 2-star status isn’t an issue to Carolina’s coaches.

"They are low on running backs, and they would love to have me there," he said. "I believe I can bring a lot at the running back position, slot, or out wide anywhere."

Davidson is planning to get to Chapel Hill later this month and get a better look inside the UNC football program on and off the field while working on strengthening his relationships.

"I'm thinking on going there (July) 21,” he said. “I want to see how good the campus is, and be able to talk with the coaches, and see where things go from there."
