On May 18, 3-star defensive tackle D'Von Ellies got some good news when the University of North Carolina was the first school to extend him a scholarship offer, and to say it means a lot to him would be an understatement.

"When I got the offer, I was in shock," the 6-3, 265 pounder told THI. "But this is the opportunity I've been working for, and for my first offer to be from UNC, I truly felt blessed."

The McDonogh (MD) class of 2019 prospect is not too familiar with the Carolina football program, but is taking his time researching and hopes tom see his recruitment take the next step.

"Things are going great," he said. "I talk to Coach (Deke) Adams to keep him updated on how I'm doing and I'm planning on getting up there soon to meet the rest of the coaching staff and get to know them better."

Ellies hasn’t visited Carolina yet, but he does have a few things in mind that he can ponder prior to making the trip to Chapel Hill.

"I've heard the campus was beautiful, but first I would like to see some of the academic buildings," he said. "And naturally, I would like to see the football facilities as well.”

The other programs Ellies is often hearing from are: Pittsburgh, Purdue, Michigan State, Maryland, Penn State, Duke, Wake Forest and Temple.
