With two quarterbacks already in the fold for the 2018 class, the focus for North Carolina and that position is now the class of 2019.

One target is 3-star pro-style QB Max Duggan, who plays at Lewis Central in Council Bluffs, IA. Duggan was offered by UNC QB coach Keith Heckendorf in May.

"I talk to Coach Heckendorf frequently," Duggan told THI.

Duggan (6-2, 180 pounds) is hearing from Heckendorf more and more as their relationship is gaining strength.

“(I) really like Coach,” Duggan said. “He knows a lot and he's a great teacher of the game.”

Duggan, who also has offers from Penn State, Ole Miss, Nebraska, Georgia and Kansas State, among many others, visited UNC for the first time earlier this summer and enjoyed his time there. He saw Chapel Hill and much of the university, including, of course, the football facilities. He later took part in one of Carolina’s day football camps.

"I enjoyed touring the campus, facilities and the town," he said. "Then camping the whole day was a great time there."

During the visit, Duggan was able to learn from the coaches and get a feel for how things are done at UNC. He also got a small taste of the Tar Heels’ spread offense.

"I've watched film of North Carolina and talked with the coaching staff and see myself fitting with their offensive philosophy," he said.

Did anything in particular standout to Duggan about his overall visit?

"The family atmosphere was great," he said. "And I thought I did well."

Distance isn't going to be a factor when it comes to choosing a school.

"It won't matter, just wherever I feel most comfortable," he said.

Aside from visiting UNC this summer, Duggan has also been to Georgia, Penn State, Oklahoma State, Alabama, Iowa, Nebraska and Minnesota.

No other visits are scheduled to take place.
